Jalapeno Popper Pizza with Focaccia Crust
Jalapeno Popper Pizza with Focaccia Crust is a unique and delicious pizza. Hands down, pizza is my favorite food. Usually, I don’t like pizzas without tomato sauce, but this one has a really yummy cream cheese topping that doesn’t leave me miss the tomato sauce one bit. To begin this pizza, I make an easy focaccia dough in my bread machine. Next, I top my pizza with a combination of cream cheese and creme fraiche. Since jalapeno poppers always have cream cheese in them. Plus, it adds a great creamy element to this pizza. Then, I add bacon, onion, jalapenos, and Monterey Pepper Jack cheese. Finally, it’s time for that first creamy, cheesy, spicy bite!
The Equipment I Used
- A Bread Machine-You’ll need a bread machine for this focaccia pizza recipe.
- A Pizza Stone- I bake this pizza on my pizza stone.
- A Pizza Peel- Roll out your dough on a parchment lined pizza peel. And, then slide it right in the oven.
- A Food Scale- For perfect baking results, please weigh your flour.
The Ingredients Needed for Jalapeno Popper Pizza with Focaccia Crust
- Flour- Use all purpose flour.
- Yeast- Be sure and use regular active dry yeast, not quick acting.
- Cream Cheese- Use whole milk cream cheese and make sure it’s very softened. I usually throw it in the microwave for a minute.
- Monterey Pepper Jack cheese- This spicy cheese will really add lots of zest to your pizza. I like the Cabot cheese brand.
- Jalapenos- I used a combination of sliced jalapenos and sliced mini bell peppers, to cut down on the spice.
- Creme Fraiche- Instead of creme frachie, you can use a third of a cup of Mornay sauce instead. I used leftover cheese sauce from yesterday’s Croque-Madame sandwiches, and it was so good.
How I Made My Pizza
- First, I made my focaccia dough. This is a wet dough, so be sure and use lots of flour to pat out the dough.
- Next, I added the toppings and baked it off.
