Roasted Garlic Fondue Burgers with Sweet Potato Spirals

Roasted Garlic Fondue Burgers with Sweet Potato Spirals

Roasted Garlic Fondue Burgers with Sweet Potato Spirals are one of our favorite fall dinners. The beef burgers are topped with a roasted garlic cheddar fondue, arugula, tomato, and red onion. They’re served on a brioche bun, with spiralized sweet potatoes on the side.

The Equipment You’ll Need

  • A Cast Iron Skillet- I feel this is the best pan for cooking burgers.
  • A Three Quart Non-Stick Saucepan- This would be good for cooking the fondue. I reheated my fondue in a pot that was not non-stick last night, and let it sit a bit. Now, I have a very crusty pot to deal with.
  • An Air Fryer- I am not the biggest fan of the air fryer, but it does a great job making crispy spiralized sweet potatoes. The first time I made this recipe, I deep fried my sweet potatoes, but I actually think the air fryer ones came out better. I used my Philips air fryer for these fries.
  • A Spiralizer- I used an OXO hand held spiralizer for this recipe. It works great and I highly recommend it. I also have a Veggetti but it’s more of a pain to get out and assemble.

The Ingredients You’ll Need for Roasted Garlic Fondue Burgers with Sweet Potato Spirals

  • Roasted Garlic Cheddar Cheese- I used Yancy’s Fancys brand cheese. It’s really delicious. You can find it in the gourmet cheese section of your market. If you can’t find this, sharp cheddar would be a good replacement.
  • Ground Chuck Meat- I think ground chuck makes the best burgers.
  • Evaporated Milk- This comes in a can, and you can usually find it in the baking section of your market.

How I Made my Burgers and Sweet Potatoes

  • I started by shredding, spiralizing, and slicing all my ingredients.
  • First, I made the fondue.
  • Next, I cooked the burgers. We like our burgers well done, so they took about 15 minutes to cook. In the meantime, I air fried my potatoes in about 6 batches. At the end, I threw all the spirals back in the fryer, to heat them up.
  • I also warmed up the fondue a little.
  • I served these with roasted cauliflower, which was delicious dipped in the fondue.

These Garlic Fondue Burgers with Sweet Potato Spirals are a quick and easy dinner, at least by my standards. If you’re looking to save time, I would just make some frozen French fries instead of the sweet potato spirals. Whatever you do, don’t skip the fondue, since it’s absolutely delicious!

Equipment

  • air fryer (for the sweet potatoes)

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces roasted garlic cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 8 ounces evaporated milk
  • 1 pound ground beef chuck
  • ¼ tsp. each kosher salt and black pepper
  • 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and spiralized
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 1 cup arugula
  • 2 plum tomatoes
  • 4 slices red onion

Instructions

  • Begin by making the Garlic Cheddar Fondue. In a small bowl, mix together the cheese and the cornstarch. In a three quart saucepan, heat the milk and bring it to a simmer. Turn the heat to low and stir in the cheese. Whisk until the sauce thickens. You can reheat this right before serving, on low heat.
  • Sprinkle the beef with salt and pepper, and form it into four patties. Heat a cast iron skillet to high heat. Drizzle the pan with a little olive oil, and cook the burgers to your desired doneness.
  • Meanwhile, cook a handful of sweet potatoes at a time, in the air fryer at 390 degrees, in a single layer. Cook for about five minutes and then sprinkle with kosher salt. Repeat with remaining potatoes.
  • Place burgers on the buns and top with fondue, arugula, tomato, and onion. Serve sweet potatoes on the side.
